This is a boab tree (gerdewoon). I was a boab nut carver before I became a painter. You can eat the nut it produces when you’re out on the country. In the olden days you would mash it up with water and eat it but it’s more common to add sugar today. It tastes really good. You can also carve the boab nut. My old people taught me how to eat bush tucker and where to find it on country. Sometimes we find a sugar bag at the bottom of the root of the tree. When the tree is hollow use it for shelter when it’s raining. I will never forget my parents and grandparents teaching me about my country, culture and bush tucker it makes me happy and I’m reminded everyday.
