Gathering Cabbage Palm

Cabbage palm is a very important resource for our people. It provides material for shelter, food and fibre craft. We gather the palm frond from a cabbage palm tree and we separate it till we get the inner most strands. Then we let it dry, dye and roll the strands on the thigh and then weave it by hand with no loom. We weave the strands to make dilly bags and they take weeks to prepare. Being able to weave dilly bags is a very important skill for our women. Dilly Bags are also an important totem.

Shipping costs are included in pricing with works smaller than 100cm. Objects larger than 100cm are not included and the responsibility of the buyer. The centre will get the work to Cairns "Pack and Send" and the buyer will make agreements with them.

Freight or postage will be covered for items under 100cm. Items over 100cm need to be dealt with differently. They will be dropped of at Cairns Pack and Send and they will assist buyer. Paintings and prints are placed in a tube and rolled up.

Refunds are dealt with on a case by case basis. If the buyer changes their mind and wants to return work it needs to happen within 30 days. Return freight needs to be covered by buyer.
