Arts Ceduna

Karen was born in Ceduna on the Westcoast of South Australia in 1969 where she still lives today. Her connection to country comes from her parents and grandparents. She is from the Wirangu and Gugada tribal groups of on the West Coast of South Australia.
While growing up Karen had an interest in art during her school days also watching her mother and other family members paint she was encouraged her to have a go, she has developed her own unique style whitch is colourful and very eye catching.
“My mother and my children also paint, karen says” and we love to share and compare ideas.” Karen uses acrylic paints in a needle tip dispenser when creating her work. “Painting is very therapeutic and it’s a creative way for me to relax and clear my mind, which is good for the mind and soul.” She is inspired by her surroundings, such as the ocean and the land and its seasonal creatures hence the vibrant seasonal colours.
I enjoy creating beautiful art in my spare time. Painting animals and bush tucker, dot painting is very therapeutic and relaxing, and is a creative way for me to bond with my family. Which I love.”
