This is the creation story from my country.

Ngurunderi’s two wives had made camp, they were cooking bony bream (Thukeri). A fish forbidden to Ngarrindjeri woman. Ngurunderi smelt the fish cooking, he knew his wives were close. He abandonded his camp, but before he left he threw his canoe into the sky in anger that his wives had broken Ngarrindjeri Law. His canoe became the Wiyirrwar (Milky Way) and his huts became two hills known as Lalanganggel (Mount Misery).

His wives fled along the beach until they reached Cape Javis. At This time Karta- Land of the Dead (Kangaroo Island) was still connected to the mainland. The two woman began to hurry across to it. Ngurunderi arrived at Cape Javis and seeing his wives fleeing from him he called out in a voice of Prenkulun (Thunder- Water rise, Water Fall). The women were swept from their path by huge waves and soon drowned. They became the Rocky Pages Islands.

Ngurunderi travelled to Kangaroo Island and sat underneath a big sheoak tree. The wind blowing through the tree made a crying sound. It reminded him of his two wives and became upset. Ngurunderi knew it was time to enter the spirit world. He travelled to the western end of Kangaroo Island. After throwing his spears into the sea, he dived in to cleanse his spirit, before rising into the sky to become the brightest star in the Wiyirrwar (Milky Way). Before Ngurunderi left the earth to enter into the Wiyirrwar (Milky Way) told the people. “I am going first, you will come after me”
