The blue tongue lizard is my totem. It represents my language and clan groups. And this picture tells the story of a blue tongue and taipan battle, which is how the blue tongue lizard’s tongue got split. After he killed the taipan, the blue tongue was poisoned by taipans wives with this plant, he got sick in his stomach and travelled across this country to find bush berries to heal him. When he found them he ate too many and they made his tongue blue. Because of this we don’t eat more than three berries at a time.
