In this painting Elizabeth has depicted her Gradmother’s country – Piltati – between Armata and Pipalyatjara in Northern South Australia. The work depicts a story of two men going hunting and two women gathering bush food and snakes, none of whom can find anything. In response the two men turn into Wanabi, the two snakes depicted in the painting. They eat the women. The two women are represented by the U shapes with their coolamons, (wooden plates, depicted by the oval shapes) and digging sticks. The central circle indicates the site where the women were searching for food. The story goes that the two snakes transformed into two hills that lie in the area, with a creek travelling between them where the women were searching for food. The fine dotted area in the centre shows the flat plain between the sand dunes, indicated by the patches of colour that frame the image.
