“This is a special place on the north side of Bentinck Island, Makarrki. This is where King Alfred was born and his language name is Dingkarringathi Thuwathu Bijarrb . He was my Father and Sally’s big brother. He raised his children on his Father’s Thundi Bijarrb Country called Rukuthi. Makarrki is made up of a big river system. It’s good hunting ground for dugong and turtles. Our family still have rights to go fishing and camping there.”
