‘Joolgie’ (freshwater crayfish) editioned lino print from an edition of 20 by Dena Gower.

Dena is a Noongar artist who grew upon Wilman Country in Narrogin and now resides in Rubibi (Broome).

Dena remembers catching ‘joolgie’ in the dams and waterways around her home when she was growing up. There is a great oral history of different Indigenous groups in the southwest of WA hunting this feed. Some groups travelled great distances to join the hunt and each group carried unique oral traditions regarding his practice. Historical Indigenous artwork has been shown to convey important information about different species and selective harvesting.

Item will be sent flat between thick protective cardboard.
