Hayley has painted a story passed down to her from her Grandmother, Mati Mudgedell. Mati would often paint the ininti seeds strung into a necklace for dancing and ceremonial purposes. The ininti seeds are collected in a coolamon and then cleaned. These ininti here are collected at a particular waterhole called Punakulu, south of Balgo. Also found here are some other bush foods including purra, or bush tomato (shown cooked and uncooked around the outside of the ininti design), kilkiti, tjilprin, lukarrarar and kunaturu, or bush bean.
