I painted the gumtrees in our traditional land, the West MacDonnell Ranges. They give us everything we need.
Medicine: we use the leaves to make bush medicine, we boil the leaves in the fire, and inhale the smells, it goes into the body and heals us from illnesses like the flu, bone aches and other infections.
Tucker: when the gumtree is down the creek near running water, we wait for the water to dry and pull out the small, brown and soft roots. We peal those roots and find inside them witchetty grubs – that is our tucker.
Tobacco: we use the skin that peels off the bark to make ashes and mix them with Pituri (bush tobacco), and we chew this mixture.
This is wisdom we got from people who used to live in the olden days, we grew up watching how they used the gumtree, its leaves, roots and bark. They left us this important legacy.

The following are the terms and conditions that constitute our Shipping Policy:
Domestic Shipping Policy – Free standard domestic shipping only. Due to our remote location in Alice Springs, postage to other non-capital cities can be expensive. If you live in a remote location, your order may incur an additional freight charge. We will be in touch if freight costs surpass the standard fee. Please note, we cannot deliver to PO boxes or parcel lockers. Most standard parcels will be sent via Australia Post.
Shipment processing time – all orders are processed within two to three weeks. Orders can only be shipped once a week due to our remote location and staffing constraints, and are not processed on weekends or holidays. If we are experiencing a high volume of orders, shipments may be delayed by a few days. Please allow additional days in transit for delivery. If there is a significant delay in shipment of your order, we will contact you via email or telephone. Delivery delays can occasionally occur.
International Shipping Policy – Please contact us for a quote on express or international shipping.

Iltja Ntjarra Art Centre does not issue refunds or returns simply for a change of mind. If an item arrives damaged please get in touch and we will assess the situation, processing a refund and organising a return where appropriate
