Rowena is a Halls Creek woman from the Nangarri skin group and belongs to the Kija and Gooniyandi tribes through her grandparents.
Rowena began painting at the age of 14. She uses Indigenous symbols and animals to illustrate her connections to them. She was a member of the Halls Creek art centre, and exhibited with them. She is now living in Broome and enjoys translating her symbols into block prints and textile designs.
