Rachel Lynch Napaltjarri

Rachel Lynch Napaltjari is a Luritja tribeswoman. Her parents are Nellie Nangala and the late Two Bob Tjunguarrayi. Rachel is the wife of Dennis Nelson whose father is celebrated aboriginal artist Johnny Warrungkula Tjupurrula, one of the first Aboriginal men to paint their dreaming stories on canvas in the early 1970’s. Her maternal grandfather was Walter Tjampitjinpa also a founding member of Papunya Tula Artists.

Rachel has been painting since the late 1980’s for Papunya Tula and Warumpi Arts. She paints water dreaming from her father-in-law’s country around Kalipinypa (about 200 klms north west of Papunya) and Bush Onion Dreaming from Karrinyarra north of Papunya.
