Pauline Yarrak

My Country is where the Cat Fish Story Place is at Minikurri on Bentick Island, my Mother’s Country. My grandparents came to Mornington Island during the missionary days. I was born and grew up here. I went to boarding school at St Barnabas in Ravenshoe. After boarding I came home and worked different jobs – one was as Aboriginal Health Worker. I met my partner and we had our 4 children and now we have grandchildren. I left Mornington and went to live on the mainland with my youngest children. I came back and decided to paint like my sister Betty and my Mums – my Mother’s sisters, they have inspired me to paint.
