Olive Lawson

Maruku Arts

Olive Lawson is minyma Yarnangu, a senior Aboriginal woman from the Western Desert area of Australia. She and her family played an important role in the early days of the Warburton Mission and have continued to live in there since it became a locally run community. She is an active community member and artist who sold her first carvings through Maruku Arts in 2016. She has also worked with the Warburton Arts project and the Tjanpi Desert Weavers. Her skills have been passed on through the Tjukurrpa, the Law and way of life governing her country.
