Natalie Purvis

“I grew up near Inguala with mom and dad. With aunties, uncles and cousins all together. My father’s country is Bushy Park, this is my country too. My mother’s country is Ti Tree way, Adelaide Bore. I was born in Alice Springs and live in Mosquito Bore, Ilenty. I came to Utopia a long time ago, when I was big. I came to New Store, Arlparra.”

Natalie is the daughter of acclaimed Utopia artist Peggy Purvis. She grew up south of Utopia near Hart’s Range and moved to Arlparra when she was married. She has developed her own unique style and paints both her father’s and mother’s country.

“I started painting in Alice Springs, I always painted my way. I made this way up myself. My paintings are remembering old times, my mother and father taught me.”
