Nardia (Narelle) Morris Nampin
Karungkarni Art and CultureNarelle Morris Nampin is a Warlpiri/ Gurindji artist and staff member of Karungkarni Art Centre in Kalkarindji in the Victoria River region of the Northern Territory. She has been a regular painter at Karungkarni Art in Kalkaringi since 2012. She loves to paint Dreaming stories which she learnt from her mother and her grandparents. Narelle and her husband are both employed at Karungkarni Art as art workers. They have two children and look after other children from their extended family.
Narelle loves working at the art centre because she wants to be near the old people and listen to stories about their Dreamings and about the early days. Narelle was selected to attend training with IRCA in Canberra (Indigenous Remote Communications Association) and with the NT Libraries RIPIA (Remote Indigenous Public Internet Association) program in Katherine NT so that she can learn to record audio and visual stories so that they can be added to a digital archive of knowledge for the local community and beyond.
In 2023, Narelle successfully graduated from the Art Worker Extension Program (AWEP), which is offered annually by ANKA to nine selected art workers from across the Kimberley and Top End region.
