Megan Lyons

APY Art Centre Collective

Megan was born in Amata on th APY Lands and grew up there with her family. Megan relocated to Adelaide in 2012, and is now raising her young family there. Megan began painting at the Collective Art Centre Adelaide in 2023. She comes from a long line of artists – her grandfather was the celebrated painter Tiger Palpatja. Her father Sammy Lyons was a respected senior man and artist at Tjala Arts in Amata, and her Big Mum Kukika Adamson paints alongside her at the Collective Art Centre Adelaide. Alongside her individual practice, Megan also paints collaboratively with Kukika.

Megan paints Piltati, the story of the watersnake and the Ngintaka Tjurkurpa which is from her father’s mother’s side. It’s a story from Angatja.
