Marie Manado

Marie is a descendant of the Yawuru, Nimanburr and Jabir Jabir tribes in the Broome and Dampier Peninsula located in North West Kimberley region.

She has a large family including extended family spread throughout the Kimberley. Her ancestral groups are all salt water peoples.

Marie’s art draws on the cultural knowledge passed down to her from her elders, particularly knowledge around bush foods and their medicinal properties and applications.
