Jonathon Malgil

Jonathon is a central figure within Warmun. As a long time employee at Warmun Art Centre, and leader of the strong studio team, Jonathon also draws and paints this family’s country, drawing on themes and histories of his ancestors. He also continues the practice of going on country to collect ‘Killer’, as is his right and was the right of his ancestors who were brutally massacred for this activity. As the grandson of the late Paddy Pedford, he means to carry on his legacy by telling his family’s stories and histories through painting, while owning and keeping alive the right to collect and kill any cattle that wonder onto his country.
