John Howley’s carvings of birds are lively renditions of Tiwi wilrdlife, often with the use of a dremel to accentuate particular features.

“My work reflects the Port Keats side of the family. Although there is little carving from Wadeye, I have learnt a lot from my uncle, Mick Munkara and some of the older carvers at Ngaruwanajirri such as Gordon Pupangamirri and John Babui.”
