Heather Brumby

Heather grew up between Indulkana and Mimili communities in the APY Lands, South Australia. When her family would travel, they travelled the traditional way, sleeping on the sand and eating bush foods.

Heather’s paintings map out the experienced story of her and her family’s country. Heather paints the ancestry tjukurpa(stories), personal memories, and landscape of the picturesque Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands.

Heather moved to Adelaide for her high school before returning to Indulkana to become an AEW (Anangu Education Worker). She has been painting at the art centre since 2006.
