Elizabeth Douglas
Tangentyere Artists and Yarrenyty Arltere ArtistsElizabeth Douglas was born in 1965 in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) and recently joined Tangentyere Artists at the beginning of 2021, where she paints alongside her sister Marjorie Williams. Elizabeth employs rich colours and linework visualising the textural components of the landscape within her figurative paintings. Through her work she tells family stories, including the travels of her grandfather, an Afghan cameleer, and those belonging to her family’s Country, south of Mparntwe.
She first began painting whilst living in Mutitjulu, a remote community near Uluru, NT, where she painted the Seven Sisters Tjukurpa associated with the Douglas family’s site, Walinynga.
