Dance: Jarrangini (Buffalo)
Dino Wilson worked at Jilamara Arts between 2017 and 2023 when he sadly passed away at only 39. In just six years, he foregrounded a promising painting career with recognition by major galleries and institutions across the country.
Having previously lived in Wurrumiyanga (Bathurst Island), he worked for many years at the Sport and Recreation Centre. In 2016, he moved to Milikapiti on Melville Island to live with his mother Carol Black. Dino’s mother painted at Jilamara and soon after moving he decided to become a member and start making work himself.
Since starting to work at the art centre, Dino has been in many group exhibitions around the country and his work has gained attention internationally. He has held solo exhibitions at Outstation Gallery in Parap and Vivien Anderson Gallery in Melbourne. In 2021, he was Highly Commended in the National Emerging Art Prize in Sydney and held a solo exhibition in Europe at Michael Reid Berlin.
