Desmond Woodforde

Desmond is an emerging multi-disciplinary artist and storyteller. He only recently started creating at Mimili Maku Arts, but has worked for PY Media and as an independent artist for many years.

At Mimili Maku Arts he has spearheaded the wati – mens’ program alongside senior artist Robert Fielding. From screenprinting, sculpture, music, painting and video – he brings a unique perspective and depth of knowledge to his practice. His works are deeply considered way, and recently worked on a body of work on found metal alongside his peers Richard Nelson, Shane Dodd and Billy Cooley.

Mimili Maku Arts will be presenting work by all four men as part of Desertmob and whilst Desmond has a rich and strong story himself, he would love to share a few thoughts about the importance of the men’s program for a healthy community and balanced art centre.
