Milingimbi Art and CultureDavid Roy is a prolific maker of carvings and bark paintings associated with his totem animals which include the Larratitja (barracuda), Burngurr (pelican), Djarrak (sea eagle), Dikarr (flying fish) and Djiwul (sea weed). His clan own the islands to the East of Milingimbi in the deep salt water including Galaw- inku (Elcho Island). The Larratitja lays his eggs to the east of Marrunga Island before travelling North West. His teeth are represented by the serrated up- right pieces on the top of the hollow log, which is traditionally used for burial rights.
