Annunciata Thinhi Dartinga was born in Wadeye in the year 1953, her traditional land is situated south of Wadeye called Ngudaniman ( Fossil Head ) her totems are the Falcon, Rainbow and Rainbow snake, Didjeridoo and water lotus. Her tribal dance is Wultjirri. She paints her totems, and Tribe durrmu designs. She is named after an area of her country Called Thinhi, There is a big river and few billabongs, the smaller ‘arms’ of the river is where her family go for swims and have picnics and the bigger parts of the river is where the Dartinga family go fishing for Barra, Bream and turtles. The water in the river is magical as said by Kura Thipmam old people, stories of the river are passed down through generations including tall tales of monsters in the river to scare the kids out of the water when its time to go. On the banks of the river is also home to lots of sugarbag, kangaroos, bush potatoes (during the wet) a variety of plums, natural dyes, palm trees, gum trees and Huge ant pits! She now resides in Peppimenarti with her Daughter Grace and two grandchildren, and is one of Durrmu Art’s main artists.
