Annie was born in Alice Springs and grew up in Papunya where she went to school. For a while she lived at Ikuntji (Haasts Bluff) where she started painting with Maureen. Annie is married to Joseph Lane and they have three children, Selina Lane, Margaret Lane and Philiip Jnr. Benny Tjapaltjarri whom painted for Papunya Tula, was her father.
